Want to be a (better) museum guide?
Regardless of technological developments, nothing can compare to the flexibility and interactivity of a museum guide! This is the point of departure for a 2-day symposium in Amsterdam,on November 6-7, 2017. The symposium is the finale of a project entitled ”Museum Guide: a profession in its own right, jointly conducted by the Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum and the University of Amsterdam.
Key competences and best practices, evaluations, accessibility, the new media and much more will be presented and discussed by an international group of participants and professionals. There will be sessions, workshops and tour, as well as keynote adressess by Viv Golding (School of Museum Studies, University of Leicester), Sandra Jackson-Dumont (The Metropolitan Museum, NY), and Zahava Doering (The Smithsonian and editor of Curator: The Museum Journal).
